New Hope for Relief from Fibromyalgia Symptoms ...Try Energy Healing!

by Richard Gordon, founder of Quantum-Touch and Randy Sandknop, Quantum-Touch Instructor

According to the National Fibromyalgia Research Association, Fibromyalgia affects over 6 million Americans, 90% of them women between the ages of 20 and 55. Because its symptoms are so general, Fibromyalgia is difficult to diagnose and often brings to mind other medical disorders. Laboratory and X-Ray results routinely come back showing no abnormalities. Common symptoms are headaches, chronic fatigue, neck and shoulder pain, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, depression, insomnia and mood swings. The cause of this mysterious malady is unknown, but some doctors are suggesting that these chronic symptoms are caused by the brain stem and spinal cord becoming compressed in the spinal canal because the bony canal has become too narrow.

Conventional treatment options for Fibromyalgia include medications to alleviate pain and improve sleep, exercise programs to help stretch muscles and improve cardiovascular fitness, and relaxation techniques to ease muscle tension and anxiety. The most invasive and controversial form of treatment is a surgery in which the top of the cervical spinal canal is opened to decompress the brain stem and relieve the top of the spinal cord.

Not much has been found for alternative methods of treatment. Recently, however, there has been a growing interest in using " energy healing" to reduce symptoms, aid sleep and improve mental clarity.

In a casual, independent experiment, Kjol Lahti, a massage therapist in Appleton, Wisconsin with a keen interest in energy healing, gathered 10 people who were suffering with Fibromyalgia. Using a technique called Quantum-Touch, Lahti treated each participant over a period of time, with spectacular results. By the end of the experiment, Lahti had spent over 130 hours doing energy work.

The goal was to see if energy healing could increase the amount of pain-free or symptom-free time participants could experience between sessions. Using a scale of 0 - 10, participants were asked to rate their pain at the first session. All answers fell in a range from 6.0 - 9.5. The overall pain scale range after the fourth session had dropped to .05 - 2.0, with the relief lasting substantially longer after each session. Participants reported sleeping better as well.

Defining energy healing in a nutshell, it is a term referencing healing arts practices in which an individual, using breath and body awareness techniques, lightly places their hands on or over an area of the body (on themselves or another) where there is discomfort. The philosophy underpinning most energy healing practices is that the body is intelligent and the practitioner of energy work is simply assisting the body with light touch and intent for the body's own journey toward optimal health and well-being.

Because this type of treatment has not yet reached the radar screens of most western medical practices or sparked much interest in the scientific community, very little research has been conducted on the actual contribution energy work has on healing. But just imagine the possibilities! Kjol Lahti's experiment certainly indicates that his participants experienced relief from the symptoms of Fibromyalgia.

To find out more on energy healing, you can use the Internet to get information on a variety of different methods. It's safe, loving and non-invasive. So if you're struggling with Fibromyalgia or any other health issues and would like a gentle alternative to conventional treatments, perhaps energy healing is for you.
